Human rights must guide Venezuela's earthquake response
Original: Outcome: Venezuela – Human rights must guide venezuela’s earthquake response
Amnesty International is calling for human rights principles to guide Venezuela's response to an earthquake, urging authorities to ensure aid reaches everyone in need without discrimination. The organisation stresses that emergency relief, reconstruction and protection of vulnerable groups must respect basic rights, and is pressing both the Venezuelan government and the international community to keep accountability at the centre of the disaster response.
Why now: Amnesty International has just issued this appeal following an earthquake in Venezuela.
