Original: Bellefonte school district averts strike, teachers union reaches tentative 4-year deal
The Bellefonte Area School District in Pennsylvania has averted a teachers' strike after the district and its teachers union reached a tentative four-year contract agreement. The deal, announced by local outlet WJAC, ends the threat of a work stoppage in the district. Details of the agreement's terms have not yet been released, and ratification votes by both sides are expected before the contract takes effect.
Why now: The tentative agreement narrowly averts a strike, and the four-year contract will affect hundreds of families in the district.
