Calls grow to replace Jerry West with Kobe Bryant on NBA logo
Original: Why putting Kobe Bryant on NBA logo may be impossible Kobe Bryant The current logo of the National Basketball Associatio
Discussion is growing over redesigning the NBA logo so the late Kobe Bryant replaces Jerry West, the Lakers legend whose silhouette has anchored the league's emblem since 1969. Supporters argue Bryant, who died in a 2020 helicopter crash, deserves the honor after his Lakers career. However, changing the logo faces legal and practical hurdles, including licensing of Bryant's likeness by his estate and the NBA's longstanding reluctance to officially confirm the current logo's identity.
Why now: Fans are debating Bryant's legacy and whether the NBA can or should redesign its iconic logo around him.
