CIA World Factbook Shut Down, Fan-Made Replacement Emerges
Original: CIA World Facebook Is Dead – Here Is an Attempt at Recreation
The CIA World Factbook, long a go-to reference for country statistics and profiles, is reportedly no longer available, prompting an effort to recreate it as an independent alternative. Discussion centers on why the resource disappeared and how well the recreation matches the original.
Why now: The reported shutdown of a widely used government reference site has prompted interest in a community-built replacement.
