EU climate chief pledges bigger youth role before COP31
Original: EU climate chief pledges greater youth role ahead of COP31 talks
The European Union's top climate official has promised to give young people a greater role in climate negotiations ahead of the COP31 summit. The pledge signals an effort to include youth voices more directly in formal UN climate talks, a long-running demand from young activists pushing for stronger emissions commitments and a seat at the decision-making table.
Why now: Attention is building ahead of COP31, and youth inclusion in climate diplomacy is a contested topic.
