Police attempted to enter Gurdwara Bangla Sahib in New Delhi to stop peaceful protesters from taking refuge inside, but were turned away. Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra amplified the episode, warning that no Indian government has survived after sending police into a gurudwara, and directly challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying his time is up. The confrontation is drawing strong reactions and revoking memories of past conflicts over state interference in Sikh places of worship.

Why now: A standoff between police and protesters at a major Sikh shrine carries heavy historical and political weight, with opposition figures framing it as a sign of the government's vulnerability.
