Historic Scottish cathedral brings in £12 fee for non-Scottish visitors

One of Scotland's historic cathedrals has introduced a £12 entry charge for visitors from outside Scotland, while access rules for locals differ. The move has drawn attention because the building has traditionally been free to enter, prompting debate about whether charging tourists for religious and heritage sites is fair, sustainable, or at odds with the cathedral's role as a place of worship.
Why now: Charging tourists to enter a historically free cathedral has sparked debate about heritage funding and access.
