Spain holds October 12 military parade amid political tension
Original: desfile 12 octubre
Spain marks its October 12 national day with the traditional military parade in Madrid, an event attended by King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia alongside Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía. This year's celebrations are overshadowed by the surprise early general election call, growing social pressure over the housing crisis, and tensions in Ceuta. The royal couple is also set to travel to Ceuta and Melilla as part of the Hispanic Day agenda.
Why now: Spain's national day parade falls at a politically charged moment following the election call and ongoing housing protests
