US leans on China in the race for AI dominance
Original: In the race for AI dominance, the U.S. relies on a surprising ally: China
A Washington Post report argues that despite growing tech rivalry and export controls, the United States depends in unexpected ways on China in the race for AI dominance. The piece highlights how the two countries remain intertwined through research collaboration, supply chains, and Chinese talent working in American AI labs, even as Washington seeks to limit Beijing's access to critical technology.
Why now: The US-China tech rivalry is a defining geopolitical issue, and claims of unexpected interdependence challenge the prevailing narrative of decoupling.
