Over 100 migrants dead in Djibouti shipwreck
Original: nuit
More than 100 migrants have died after a boat sank off the coast of Djibouti, according to Radio Lac. The victims are believed to be migrants attempting the crossing along the route toward the Arabian Gulf. The overnight disaster is one of the deadliest such incidents on the route in recent months, and rescue efforts are underway.
Why now: The high death toll in a single shipwreck along a major migration route is drawing fresh attention to the dangers migrants face crossing from Djibouti toward Yemen.
