Pope says Christian joy is God's gift for world's salvation
Original: Pope at Angelus: Christian joy is ‘gift of God for world’s salvation’
Pope Francis, speaking at the Angelus prayer in St Peter's Square, told pilgrims that Christian joy is a gift of God meant for the salvation of the world. He urged the faithful to embrace this joy as a witness of faith rather than seeking happiness in fleeting things. His remarks form part of his regular Sunday address to crowds at the Vatican.
Why now: The Pope's Sunday Angelus message is regularly followed by Catholics worldwide, and his remarks on joy carry spiritual significance during the current liturgical season.
