Blogger paid strangers to follow his README instructions
Original: I paid people to try and follow my README
A UK software writer paid people to attempt setting up a project using only its README file, then documented where they got stuck. The experiment highlights how often documentation that makes sense to its author fails real users, a recurring pain point for open-source developers writing install guides.
Why now: It taps into developers' shared frustration with writing and testing usable documentation.
