Manchester mayor says city's music is more than Oasis
Original: There's more to our music than Oasis, says Manchester mayor https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/oct/11/bev-craig-ma
Manchester mayor Bev Craig has said there is more to the city's music scene than Oasis, arguing the band should not define Manchester's musical identity. The remarks come amid renewed attention on the group and its home city, and Craig is highlighting the breadth of Manchester's musical heritage beyond one act.
Why now: Renewed public interest in Oasis has prompted the mayor to push back on the idea that the band alone represents Manchester's music.
