Critics frame heaven and hell as tools of control
Original: Theists: # Heaven & # Hell = Carrot & Stick. A method for controlling you. ______________________ # atheism # faith # go
A claim circulating among atheist commentators argues that the concepts of heaven and hell function as a carrot-and-stick mechanism, rewarding obedience and punishing dissent as a way of controlling believers. The framing, pitched directly at theists, taps a long-standing argument in debates between atheists and religious communities about whether faith operates through fear and incentive rather than genuine conviction.
Why now: It restates a familiar atheist critique of religion in a provocative way that invites debate.
