Letter questions LDS Church stance on gambling and ICE
Original: Letter: That the LDS Church is concerned about gambling makes (dollars and) sense. But what about ICE?
A letter to the editor in the Salt Lake Tribune argues that the LDS Church's concerns about gambling make financial sense, but questions why the church has not similarly spoken out about ICE and immigration enforcement. The writer implies the church's advocacy is selective, weighing moral positions against institutional interests. The piece invites debate over the church's public role in Utah politics.
Why now: It touches on ongoing debate over the LDS Church's selective public advocacy on gambling versus immigration enforcement.
