Prince Laurent kicks off disability football match in Kortrijk
Original: Prins Laurent geeft aftrap bij G-voetbalclub Kortrijk: “Ik ben niet meer zo soepel, misschien is dat wel mijn beperking"
Belgium's Prince Laurent gave the ceremonial kick-off at the Lange Munte sports grounds in Kortrijk for a G-football match, a competition for athletes with disabilities. Quoted at the event, the prince joked that he is no longer as supple as he once was, adding that this might itself be his limitation. The royal appearance at an inclusive grassroots sports club is drawing attention in Belgian media.
Why now: A Belgian royal making a light-hearted personal remark at an inclusive football event gives media and the public something warm to share.
