A Democratic candidate for Congress has publicly criticised the presence of ICE, the US immigration enforcement agency, in New York, describing the situation as 'deeply concerning'. The remarks add to ongoing political friction over immigration enforcement operations in Democratic-led cities, where officials and candidates have increasingly pushed back against federal agents' activities.
Why now: Immigration enforcement in New York remains a flashpoint between Democrats and the federal government, drawing continued attention and debate.
