RAM shortage drives a DDR4 comeback
Original: The RAM shortage is bringing back DDR4
A shortage of newer DDR5 memory is pushing PC makers and gamers back toward older DDR4 RAM, The Verge reports. As DDR5 prices climb and supply tightens, Intel and AMD platforms that still support DDR4 are regaining interest, with buyers and system builders turning to the older standard as a cheaper, more available alternative.
Why now: Memory prices and supply problems are currently squeezing PC builders, making the revival of an older standard newsworthy.
