Knitters Are Crafty, Cozy and Ruthless Online
Original: They’re Crafty, Cozy, and Yarn-Obsessed. They Will Also Destroy You Online With No Mercy.
A Slate headline argues that knitters and other yarn-obsessed crafters, often seen as cozy and gentle, can be ferociously effective when they go to battle online. The piece frames the knitting community as a surprising internet force: polite on the surface, but quick to organize, pile on and out-argue critics with no mercy when provoked.
Why now: The contrast between knitting's cozy image and the community's reputation for fierce online callouts is a viral talking point.
