Exorcist II: The Heretic Called the Worst Movie Ever Made
Original: Why Exorcist II: The Heretic Is the Worst Movie Ever Made
Exorcist II: The Heretic, John Boorman's 1977 sequel to The Exorcist, is the subject of renewed criticism arguing it stands among the worst films ever made. The sequel, starring Linda Blair and Richard Burton, is notorious for abandoning the original's horror in favour of psychedelic visuals and a widely ridiculed plot. Film commentators are revisiting its flawed script, tonal whiplash and rewrite-heavy production as reasons for its reputation.
Why now: A fresh retrospective critique of the notorious 1977 sequel has prompted film fans to debate its status as one of cinema's worst releases.
