Manchester City supporters have taken inflatable bananas to Anfield for their Premier League match against Liverpool. The unusual tribute dates back to the 1980s, when City fans threw bananas onto the pitch in reference to striker Imre Varadi, nicknamed 'Imre Banana'. The quirky tradition has resurfaced for the high-profile away fixture, with outlets explaining the odd spectacle to curious football fans.
