A medical group says dozens of miners have been killed or injured in an airstrike near the border between Sudan and Egypt. The Sudan Doctors Network cited preliminary reports of the casualties as the country's civil war between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces continues to cause widespread deaths and displacement, including among civilians working in border-area gold mines.
Why now: A reported airstrike killing civilians near a national border is a serious new development in Sudan's war, drawing urgent attention.
