Campaign urges Americans to fight government book bans
Original: Don’t let the government regulate your reading www.bookbanpetition.us # library # libraries # read # reading # book # bo
The advocacy group EveryLibrary is pushing a petition against government regulation of reading, directing people to bookbanpetition.us. The campaign comes amid ongoing battles over book removals from US school and public libraries, where titles on race, gender and sexuality have been challenged by officials and parent groups. Library advocates are urging readers to sign on and pressure lawmakers to keep access to books free from political interference.
Why now: Book bans and government restrictions on library materials remain a hot political issue in the United States.
