Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported that 23 drones were shot down while approaching the Russian capital. Flight takeoffs and landings were restricted at Moscow's major airports, including Vnukovo, Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo and Zhukovsky. The report comes amid continued Ukrainian drone strikes deep into Russian territory, with commentators expressing scepticism about official Russian figures.
Why now: Ongoing Ukrainian drone attacks on Moscow are disrupting air traffic and drawing attention to official claims about intercepted drones.
