Experts Warn Flock Surveillance Cameras Signal Wider Dystopian Tracking
Original: Flock Cameras Are Really Just the Start of Our Dystopian Surveillance Hell, Experts Warn https:// fed.brid.gy/r/https://
Experts are warning that Flock Safety's automated license plate reader cameras, increasingly deployed across US neighborhoods and paired with police data sharing, mark the beginning of a much broader mass surveillance infrastructure. Commenters are raising concerns about warrantless tracking of drivers' movements, data sharing between agencies, and the lack of meaningful limits on how long location records are kept or who can access them.
Why now: Growing deployment of Flock's license plate readers and expanded data-sharing deals with police have reignited privacy and mass surveillance concerns.
