Oaxaca teachers protest 'aviador' posts at state education institute
Original: sección 22 - cnte
Members of Section 22 of the CNTE teachers' union demonstrated at the IEEPO, Oaxaca's state education institute, against the existence of so-called 'aviadores' — teaching posts paid without the holder working. The union is demanding these positions be assigned to working teachers, a long-running dispute in Oaxaca's education system, and the protest is drawing fresh attention in Mexico.
Why now: The CNTE's Oaxaca section has staged new protests over 'aviador' positions at the IEEPO, keeping the dispute in the news.
