Silvia Salis under fire over ex-Ilva official's environmental data post

Original: silvia salis

Genoa mayor Silvia Salis is at the centre of a growing controversy in Italy after a post by a former Ilva executive on environmental data sparked outrage. Critics, according to la Repubblica, accused the official of misleading workers with what they called chatter about environmental figures, prompting a wave of criticism of Salis's administration over its handling of the steel plant's legacy.

Why now: The exchange over Ilva's environmental record is drawing attention because it directly touches worker trust and the city's politics under its new mayor.
