The Director General of the European Space Agency has outlined a €10 billion, 10-year plan to develop an independent European capability for crewed spaceflight. The proposal aims to end Europe's reliance on partners such as the United States and Russia for sending astronauts to space, and is expected to be put forward for decision by ESA member states at upcoming ministerial negotiations.
