Artemis Fowl Returning as Animated Disney+ Series
Original: ‘Artemis Fowl’ Is Getting a New Animated Disney+ TV Series 6 Years After Live-Action Movie!
Disney+ is developing a new animated TV series based on Eoin Colfer's 'Artemis Fowl' books, six years after the poorly received 2020 live-action film. The move suggests Disney is giving the young criminal mastermind franchise another chance, this time in animation rather than live action. Fans of the book series have long argued that the original film strayed too far from the source material, and reaction to the news has focused on whether the animated format could finally do the stories justice.
Why now: The original 2020 film was widely panned, so news of a second adaptation attempt is drawing attention from fans and critics.
