DIY oven maker battles insulation leaks and flare-ups

A home workshop project to build an oven hit a snag: a vermiculite board with a ceramic-style coating was CNC-machined to fit, but hot air escaped from the side and ignited the top edges of the cardboard tube used in the setup. The builder then cut a small piece of fiberfrax insulation to insert into the tube, continuing to iterate on sealing the heat path.
Why now: People enjoy following hands-on DIY builds, especially the trial-and-error of fixing leaks and fire risks.
