Gail Lerner Fired as Showrunner of New NBC Sitcom

Original: nbc

Gail Lerner, co-creator of 'Newlyweds,' has been removed as showrunner of an upcoming NBC sitcom just weeks before its scheduled premiere. According to Deadline, the decision came ahead of the show's debut, a notably late-stage change that raises questions about the production. NBC has not detailed the reasons behind the firing, and it remains unclear who will replace Lerner in the role.

Why now: An abrupt showrunner change right before a network sitcom's premiere signals possible trouble behind the scenes, drawing industry attention.
