Meta accused of deleting LGBTQ and plus-sized business accounts
Original: Meta is allegedly deleting LGBTQ and plus-sized business Instagram accounts
Meta is facing accusations that it is removing Instagram business accounts run by LGBTQ and plus-sized owners. Reports circulating online describe legitimate small businesses suddenly losing access to their accounts, with owners saying they were given little explanation. Critics see the removals as part of broader concerns about content moderation decisions and their impact on marginalized communities. Meta has not been widely quoted responding to the specific allegations.
Why now: Allegations of discriminatory account removals by a major platform raise concerns about moderation and fairness for small businesses.
