Replacement motherboards bring classic iPods back to life
Original: Show HN: A replacement motherboard for the iPod mini, 3G and 4G
A new replacement motherboard called Sprout has been introduced for the iPod mini and the 3rd and 4th generation iPod, offering fresh internal hardware for aging devices whose original boards are failing. The project, presented by Certain Things Studio, gives owners a way to repair and keep using decades-old Apple players instead of discarding them. The response so far is modest but curious, with gadget enthusiasts welcoming options that keep classic portable music players functional.
Why now: Retro gadget repair and keeping classic Apple hardware alive is a popular topic among tech hobbyists right now.
