A development team is raising a few thousand dollars to bring its PWNies project to market and finish testing Linux patches for the iPhone 11. They say as few as 50 monthly supporters on Patreon would be enough to make native Linux on the device a reality, and are asking the open-source community to chip in and back the effort.
Why now: Running Linux on iPhone hardware is a rare and technically impressive hacking achievement, drawing interest from the open-source and device-tinkering communities.
