Ukraine drone strikes on Russian data centers cut bot traffic overnight
Original: Rightwing/Pro Trump bot traffic stop after Ukraine strikes on Russia datacenters
Ukrainian drone strikes crippled multiple data centers in Russia, including facilities reportedly linked to Google and Yandex operations, and observers say pro-Trump and right-wing bot traffic on social media nearly vanished overnight. The strikes came as Ukraine intensified bombing of Yandex infrastructure in response to Moscow's attacks on Kyiv's data centers. Commenters are treating the sudden drop in automated disinformation as evidence that much of it originated from Russian server infrastructure.
Why now: The apparent near-elimination of coordinated bot activity immediately after the strikes suggests Russian data centers were hosting large-scale disinformation operations.
