A retro-computing enthusiast has started streaming tests of Steam games running on Windows Vista, using original period hardware. The experiment mixes modern digital storefronts with an operating system Microsoft discontinued support for in 2017, alongside interest in other legacy platforms like Windows 98, Windows XP and the MegaDrive. Retro-gaming communities are following to see how well the old system handles current game streaming.
Why now: People enjoy watching modern software pushed onto obsolete hardware, a popular retro-computing niche.
