Original: Amazon Replaces Fire Tablets With Android Alexa Tablets Priced From $229.99

Amazon is discontinuing its Fire tablet line and replacing it with new Android-based tablets featuring Alexa, with prices starting at $229.99. The move marks a significant shift in Amazon's hardware strategy, moving away from its heavily customized Fire OS toward a standard Android platform with deeper Alexa integration, at a notably higher starting price than previous budget Fire tablets.

Why now: The replacement of Amazon's long-running budget tablet line with a pricier Android-based product line is a notable shift in the company's hardware strategy.
