Indigenous-led club brings lacrosse to Santa Fe girls
Original: Not just a ‘frat boy' sport: Indigenous-led club brings lacrosse to Santa Fe girls
An Indigenous-led lacrosse club in Santa Fe is opening the sport to girls, challenging its reputation as a 'frat boy' game dominated by wealthy private schools. The program highlights lacrosse's roots as a traditional Native American sport while creating new access for young female players in the community.
Why now: The club is reclaiming lacrosse's Indigenous origins while expanding access to girls in a sport long seen as exclusive.
