A debate is underway in Germany about how history is told as a shared past and who is included in it. Commenters highlight that Syrian experiences are often left out of dominant historical narratives, with one voice insisting that Syria's story is part of their own history. The discussion centres on how collective narratives of the past determine who counts as part of a shared 'we'.
