Drawing Images by Pinging IPv6 Addresses
Original: Draw by Pinging IPv6 Addresses
Researchers at the University of Twente have launched a project that lets users draw pictures on a world map by pinging IPv6 addresses. Because the IPv6 address space is vast, specific addresses can correspond to coordinates, and pinging them plots points that form images. The playful idea has caught attention online as a creative misuse of network tooling.
Why now: A novel, whimsical project that repurposes everyday network diagnostics into an art tool is amusing and surprising technologists.
