A review by Takashi Yabuki on Eiga.com of the new Resident Evil reboot, posted October 12, 2026, describes the film as a 'creepy monster movie' rather than a zombie film. The reviewer says the reboot leans more into creature horror and reflects the game's world more closely than Paul W. S. Anderson's earlier film series, of which he counted three entries.

Why now: Interest in how the latest Resident Evil reboot compares to earlier films and the games.
