Linux amdgpu driver reportedly running unmodified on an iPad

Original: Running the unmodified Linux amdgpu driver on an iPad

A developer has demonstrated the unmodified Linux amdgpu driver running on an iPad, an unusual feat given Apple's tightly locked-down hardware and driver stack. The project draws on the LemonSeed-Studio work shared on GitHub. Readers are debating how the driver was made to work on Apple silicon and what it means for Linux support on iPads.

Why now: Technical breakthroughs that get mainstream hardware running open-source drivers attract wide attention in the developer community.
