Delhi designates Ramlila Maidan as new protest site

Original: ramlila maidan

Delhi authorities have designated Ramlila Maidan and two other sites in the capital for public protests, moving away from Jantar Mantar, which has long served as the city's traditional protest hub. The decision affects where demonstrations and gatherings can legally be held in Delhi, and is drawing attention to how protest permissions will be handled going forward.

Why now: The government's move to shift protests from Jantar Mantar to designated sites including Ramlila Maidan is prompting discussion about its impact on the right to demonstrate in Delhi.
