Trump claims 'energy ceasefire' as Ukraine reports ongoing Russian strikes
Original: Trump claims ‘energy ceasefire,’ but Ukraine says Russia keeps striking its energy facilities
Donald Trump says a ceasefire covering energy infrastructure is in effect between Russia and Ukraine, but Ukrainian officials say Russian forces continue attacking the country's energy facilities. The conflicting accounts raise questions about whether any agreement exists in practice, and Ukrainian reports of fresh strikes on power infrastructure directly contradict the claim that such targets are being spared.
Why now: Trump's claim directly conflicts with Ukraine's reports of continued Russian attacks on energy sites.
