Original: From Xinjiang to the Front Lines of Syria
Foreign Policy reports on fighters from China's Xinjiang region now serving on the front lines of Syria's civil war, highlighting the unlikely journey of Uyghur militants from Central Asia to Middle East battlefields. The report raises questions about how these fighters traveled thousands of miles from China to join the conflict and what their presence means for regional security.
Why now: The connection between China's Xinjiang region and Syria's war is a striking geopolitical story with security implications for both regions.
