EU set to ban lead gunshot in major win for wildlife
The European Union is set to ban lead gunshot, in what conservation groups are calling a major victory for wildlife. Lead ammunition has long poisoned waterbirds and other animals that ingest spent shot or eat contaminated carcasses. Animal welfare advocates welcomed the move as an important step in reducing toxic lead from wetlands and hunting grounds across the bloc.
Why now: The EU is moving to ban lead gunshot, a long-sought environmental protection measure.
