A stucco carving at Michaelsberg Abbey in Bamberg, Germany, is drawing interest online: Death leans forward with a pipe, blowing bubbles across the ceiling. The memento mori was created by Johann Georg Leinberger around 1729 for the abbey's Holy Grave Chapel. Its unusually light, playful treatment of death is striking viewers, who are sharing images of the baroque plasterwork.
