Pennsylvania bans burning bush, gardeners weigh fall alternatives
Original: Over the garden fence: PA banned burning bush. What to plant instead this fall
Pennsylvania has banned burning bush, an invasive shrub long favoured for its red autumn foliage. A gardening column in the Centre Daily Times discusses the prohibition and suggests native or non-invasive shrubs that gardeners can plant instead this fall. The change affects home gardeners across the state who must now replace existing plants and choose alternatives for seasonal colour.
Why now: Pennsylvania's ban on the popular invasive shrub has prompted gardeners to look for replacement plants this fall planting season
