Woman attacked on Via della Spiga in Milan

Original: via della spiga

A 34-year-old woman was assaulted on Via della Spiga, one of Milan's most exclusive shopping streets. Police arrested the attacker on charges of sexual violence and attempted robbery. The incident has drawn attention because of the location, a normally busy and well-patrolled area in the city's fashion district, raising concerns about safety in central Milan.

Why now: The assault happened on one of Milan's most famous and upscale streets, making an apparently random violent crime there especially striking.
