Salvador Illa attends Spain's National Day parade again

Original: salvador illa

Catalan president Salvador Illa is attending Spain's National Day military parade on October 12 in Madrid, repeating his presence at the event. Illa frames his attendance as a defence of a "plural Spain", a stance drawing attention and debate in Spanish media and political circles, given the symbolic weight of the parade and his party's position on Spanish unity.

Why now: His repeated attendance at the politically charged 12-O parade is being read as a symbolic gesture about national unity ahead of ongoing tensions over Catalonia's place in Spain.
